How are Facebook Ads calculated?
Facebook Ads are calculated using five key inputs:
- Total Ad Spend – how much you spent on your campaign
- Total Clicks – the number of clicks your ad received
- Total Impressions – how many times your ad was shown
- Total Conversions – how many desired actions (like sign-ups or purchases) occurred
- Total Revenue – the income generated from those conversions
From those, we calculate the following metrics:
- CPC (Cost Per Click) = Total Spend ÷ Total Clicks
→ Tells you how much each click is costing. - CPM (Cost Per 1,000 Impressions) = (Total Spend × 1,000) ÷ Total Impressions
→ Shows how efficiently you’re getting your ads seen. - Conversion Rate = (Total Conversions ÷ Total Clicks) × 100
→ Reveals how well your clicks are turning into results. - ROAS (Return on Ad Spend) = Total Revenue ÷ Total Spend
→ Measures how much revenue you earn for every $1 spent.
This gives you a clear view of performance and profitability — and helps identify which part of the funnel may need optimisation.
